Town releases Request for Expression of Interest for affordable housing
The Town of Georgina is focused on supporting the construction of affordable housing and is committed to advocating for and enabling the development of new residential units throughout a range of affordability levels. The Town is also actively exploring opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
The Town has released the Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) for affordable housing.

Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Georgina
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Georgina and northern York Region. Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts to 110 km/h, large hail up to 4 cm and the risk of a tornado from this afternoon into this evening.

Shoreline hazard warning
The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that the water levels in Lake Simcoe are higher than average for this time of year, due to recent rainfall and snowmelt. These higher-than-average water levels are posing a significant risk of flooding along the Lake Simcoe shoreline. Flooding has been reported in some localized low-lying areas. There is a high risk of dike failures in the Keswick, Kolbar and Bradford polders. Depending on wind conditions, there may be localized effects on lake levels, leading to increased flooding.

Tree debris drop-off hours for Easter weekend
Georgina residents can continue drop off tree debris at the Pefferlaw Lion’s Hall on Pete’s Lane in the south end of the parking lot.
The hours for the Easter weekend, Friday April 18, 2025 to Monday, April 21, 2025, will be noon to 4 p.m.
Following this weekend the drop-off hours for tree debris will be –
- April 23 to April 25 noon to 7:30 p.m.
- April 26 to May 2 noon to 4 p.m.
May 2 is the final day for drop off of tree debris at the Pefferlaw Lion’s Hall location.
