    Erin Ambrose to bring the Walter Cup to Georgina

    Erin Ambrose is bringing the Walter Cup to Georgina. The Keswick native and defender for the Montreal Victoire of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) celebrated the Walter Cup championship on May 20, 2026. She will bring the Walter Cup to the Georgina Ice Palace on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

    New interactive way to help shape the 2027 budget

    The Town of Georgina is inviting residents to get involved in the 2027 budget process. New this year is the budget engagement platform and the Community Priorities Challenge which provides residents an opportunity to distribute a fictional $100 throughout municipal services based on what matters most to them. This interactive tool allows residents to identify the programs, infrastructure and services they value the most, to inform future planning and decision making.

    Temporary traffic signals installed at Black River Road and Queen Street

    As a result of the construction on High Street, and the impacts from rerouting traffic through detour routes, the Town is implementing temporary traffic signals at Black River Road and Queen Street. This improvement to the overall traffic management plan will maintain better traffic flow for all, while eliminating long queues for motorists exiting from Queen Street. The temporary signals are planned to be operational on Thursday, Aug. 6. 

    Town staff, project partners and stakeholders continue to monitor conditions and make adjustments as necessary.

    Sean Walker is bringing the Stanley Cup to Georgina. The Keswick native and defenceman for the Carolina Hurricanes celebrated the Stanley Cup championship on June 14, 2026. He will bring the Stanley Cup to the Georgina Ice Palace on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

    Beat the heat at a cooling centre in Georgina

    The heat is on this week in Georgina. Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Yellow-level Heat Warning for Georgina and all of York Region. 

    With the hot temperatures, the Town is reminding everyone to take precautions to stay cool, hydrated and safe.
