The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that areas of the watershed are forecast to receive 20 – 40mm of precipitation starting Wednesday afternoon and through Thursday.  Higher amounts of rainfall may occur in localized areas as a result of thunderstorm activity.

Spring has arrived and Georgina is bustling with fun activities and events for everyone. It’s time to get back outside and enjoy the warmer temperatures. If the weather doesn’t allow, there are many fun indoor activities to keep you busy. 

Be advised the Civic Centre and the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre are experiencing some phone issues. The Town is working with its vendor to resolve the issue.

Back by popular demand is Georgina's Annual Swap and Sell. It takes place Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Georgina Ice Palace, 90 Wexford Dr. in the parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Register as a vendor to sell your used or new wares, or come to shop. To register for a spot, call 905-476-4301, ext. 3001. No commercial vendors.

Vendors may start setting up at 7 a.m. on May 10 and are encouraged to bring a donation for the Georgina Community Food Pantry.

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that warming temperatures are forecast starting tomorrow, along with rainfall over the weekend. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between +7 to +15 degrees, with total rainfall amounts of 15-30 mm for Saturday and Sunday.

While widespread flooding is not expected, the possibility for flooding in various low-lying areas of the watershed exists due to the expected rainfall and melting of the remaining snowpack. There is also the potential for ice breakup and ice jams in some watercourses.

“On Monday, March 3, 2025 some Council members, including myself, received a letter from a Town resident that proposed the renaming of Balfour Beach to “Gaza Beach.”  Since that letter was sent, this proposal was spread on social media and a number of local residents have expressed their concerns to me about this proposed name change.

I want to make it clear to the residents of Georgina that I do not support this proposal, there is no intention to consider this proposal, and I know that my Council colleagues, including local Councillor Neeson feel the same way.

Daytime temperatures are expected to range between +3 to +8 degrees. Rainfall amounts of 5-10 mm are forecast for today with another 15-20 mm forecast for Wednesday.

While widespread flooding is not expected, the possibility for flooding in various low-lying areas of the watershed exists due to the expected rainfall and melting of the snowpack.
